“Still Walls, Still Work”
By Karl “DJ K.P.” Pearce
I finally got my house — the one I dreamed of. A home for my family, a foundation built off faith, work, and a whole lot of late nights. And once that box got checked, I knew what was next: I wanted to build my own space. A studio. A man cave. A spot that was me.
So I got to work.
I gathered materials, did the painting, the wiring, the design — all with my own two hands. Every screw, every piece of trim, every coat of paint felt like a brick in the vision I’ve been carrying for years.
And now? I’m right at the finish line. Everything’s ready to go in. But I’m stuck waiting on someone else to finish their part.
That’s when the revelation hit me.
We as people feel like we’re supposed to be on the move. If we’re not seeing progress, we get uneasy. That’s why we get mad sitting in traffic, or when we drive past a construction site that looks the same every day. It’s why we press the elevator button more than once — as if hitting it again will make it move faster.
Because deep down, when we feel like we’re supposed to be moving but we’re not, we get frustrated. We want to see motion. We want to feel like we’re getting somewhere.
But sometimes God says, “Be still.”
Sometimes the drywall has to dry before the paint can go up. Sometimes the delay is divine. The pause ain’t the problem — it’s the process.
I walk into my unfinished studio now and see more than walls. I see a mirror of life. It’s quiet. Nothing seems to be happening. But behind the stillness, there’s structure being set.
God uses stillness to strengthen you. He uses waiting to work on things you can’t see yet. So don’t mistake silence for stagnation. The blessing might already be in motion — it’s just drying, setting, curing, preparing.
One day soon, I’ll walk into that studio, hit the lights, and everything will be just how I pictured it. But when that day comes, I’ll remember this: the waiting room was still part of the construction zone.
So wherever you are in life — whether it’s traffic, a season of waiting, or your own unfinished project — just remember:
Even when the walls are still, the work is still happening.
Sometimes God hits pause to prep your promise.
The walls might be still, but the work ain’t stopped. 🙏🏾
